I visited another market, this time in Leeds. I think all markets are extremely similar, they all have this strong sense of Patriotism - everywhere you turn there are England or Great Britain flags or Royal Family memorabilia. Then there are cafes packed with old people who are generally on their own and drinking cups of tea just watching the world go by. Young mum's pushing prams with Primark bags swinging and stalls filled with tit bits that no one really wants anymore. The vast differences in people you see at markets is always fascinating but I guess that just correlates with the vast amount of things you can purchase in a market.
One thing I love about visiting the market is knowing that such markets could never be found anywhere else other than Britain. Yes, a market in a town is a universal concept but British markets are so set apart from everyone else because they are so in your face that they are 'British'. I swear even the people who own fruit stalls in Leeds have cockney accents when they say their usual chants.
